Opportunity House is a nonprofit organization that has been serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in DeKalb County for more than 60 years. Their mission is to help individuals work, live in homes of their choice, and enjoy meaningful participation in community life by providing personalized support that fosters independence, dignity, and opportunity.

Through a wide range of programs, Opportunity House offers residential living, supported employment, vocational and day services, in-home support, recreational activities, and Special Olympics participation. Their person-centered approach focuses on each individual’s unique strengths, goals, and needs, helping them build life skills, maintain employment, develop relationships, and engage fully in the community.

Today, Opportunity House serves hundreds of individuals across DeKalb County while operating multiple community group homes and support programs. By empowering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling, independent lives, the organization strengthens not only the lives of those it serves but also the communities in which they live and work.
